Aus Graz kam 2020 die österreichische Indierockplatte des Jahres. Ein schrulliger Vogel namens Johnny Batard hatte sie gemacht, und sein wiederum prächtiger zweiter Streich "Calimero"(Post Office) verdeutlicht: Eintagsfliege war das keine. Verspielter und irgendwie noch naiver als auf dem Debüt blickt dieser Johnny, der eigentlich Johann Zuschnegg heißt, mal staunend in die Welt, um dann wieder an ihr zu zweifeln; er hat den Schalk im Nacken und das Herz auf der Zunge. Teils deutsch, teils englisch gesungen, gehen das Eingängig-Tanzbare und das Experimentelle in den neun Liedern Hand in Hand. "Die Kinder sind in Ordnung, sie werden ewig leben", heißt es an einer Stelle. So lange sie derart charmante Antihits wider die selbstoptimierte Gleichförmigkeit produzieren wie Johnny Batard: durchaus! - GEHARD STÖGER, FEUILLETON, FALTER
